Social Media and digital make more room for sales
In our last Pulse post we spoke about how Social Media is demanding that brands win over audiences when releasing new beauty products. Now they are making room for sales within their walls more than ever. This week Instagram revealed that the shopping feature is expanding into Instagram stories, so bloggers and Social Media royalty have even more power and influence than ever over their followers spending, with the ‘shopping sticker’.
Read more about ASOS’s dilemma when it comes to the new shopping feature over on Marketing Week here.
While ASOS would rather keep consumers on its own site, CEO Nick Beighton said he is open to experimenting with new ecommerce channels, including Instagram Shopping, over the next 12 months.

The Official Start of Summer
While most of us think it’s great weather for a while, summer is now officially underway. ‘The skin geeks’ (that’s us!) are out in force, and this is our opportunity to talk about the importance of SPFs and what they can do to not only your skin, but the environment as well.

Medical skincare experts AlumierMD, whose research team includes leading scientists, dermatologists and industry professionals and is led by Dr Karl Lintner PhD. As a result of this extensive research AlumierMD’s sunscreens only use two physical filters of the highest quality: Micronized Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide. The AlumierMD Sheer Hydration Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 40 (RRP £35, 60ml) is a silky and sheer physical only sunscreen. The formula uses a combination of the above physical filters to protect against UVA and UVB rays, while moisturising with vitamin E. The formula is also packed with free-radical quenching antioxidants including a stable vitamin C, vitamin E, resveratrol, grape seed extract and glutathione, to protect skin from UV damage. Available in both untinted and a versatile tint that blends beautifully on the skin creating a sheer radiance.
The Teoxane Advanced Perfecting Shield SPF30 (RRP £50) is a smart SPF that works on four levels to hydrate, offer advanced protection, revitalise and restructure all in one. Prolonged sun exposure dehydrates skin, making it more susceptible to environmental aggressors, as well as taking longer to heal. Thanks to Teoxane’s patented resilient hyaluronic acid, skin is kept optimally hydrated throughout the day and the skin’s barrier is strengthened. The Advanced Perfecting Shield also contains a dermo-restructuring complex of antioxidants, amino acids, minerals and vitamins to protect from oxidative stress. But that’s not all; the formula incorporates solar filters including TINOSORB® to provide SPF 30 protection from UVA/UVB rays whilst inhibiting the degradation of hyaluronic acid and light reflecting pigments to correct and unify the skin.
ZO Oclipse Daily Sheer SPF 50 (RRP £57) is a non-greasy and quick drying sunscreen which blends seamlessly into the skin for a sheer matte finish. Water and perspiration resistant, Daily Sheer delivers superior protection during outdoor activities. This sunscreen provides daily-broad spectrum protection against harmful, skin ageing UVA rays and skin burning UVB rays with a blend of FDA approved filters, while fractionated melanin helps shield the skin against the ageing effects of HEV light. Packed with added hydration, this sunscreen helps maintain the skin’s natural moisture balance, helping to prevent dryness from increased outdoor exposure. One of the big benefits of this product is that ZOX12 provides continues antioxidant protection against free radical damage and the harmful effects of infrared (IR-A) rays.
As a baby’s skin is 60% thinner than an adult’s Mustela®’s Sun Range (RRP from £11.50) is specifically formulated to protect the skin of babies and children and is safe to use starting at 3 months of age. Rigorously selected for its high tolerance and its non-allergenic properties, its SPF 50+ and UVA filter system provides your baby with effective protection, without damaging their delicate skin. Enriched with Avocado Perseose, a patented active ingredient with biomimetic properties that works in complete harmony with the skin, it also provides protection against damage to the skin deep down, preserving its natural defences and its cell stock. Your baby’s skin is provided with gentle protection against the sun both on the surface and deep down.
